Here at Dental Concepts, we can recall a time when just the words “root canal” were enough to inspire anxiety in a prospective patient. It’s reassuring to know that so much effort has gone into technological advancements in terms of both the equipment and the techniques used, because that means that our Glen Cove root canal isn’t anything to fear. Most of our patients tell us that they experienced little to no discomfort at all during it. And since the procedure is responsible for alleviating pain you’re already in, it’s something that you should look forward to when it’s necessary.
You’ll be aware that you may need our Glen Cove root canal by symptoms such as pain while chewing or when you put pressure on your tooth, sensitivity to hot and cold foods and drinks, swelling, gum tenderness, and tooth discoloration. What do they indicate? Bacteria has gotten inside your tooth and infected the delicate pulp located right next to the nerve. It may have occurred due to a large cavity, a loose filling or one that has fallen out, or a chipped or cracked tooth. Whatever the reason behind it, what matters most is that you get it treated. If our Glen Cove root canal is not performed in a timely manner, you could lose your tooth. When done promptly, there is at least a 90% chance that it will be successful. The process of removing the infected tissue, and cleaning and sealing the canals may take more than one session, especially with a tooth that has multiple canals. When the tooth heals, though, you will be fitted with a dental crown, restoring it to normal size, appearance, and function.
If you have a toothache or any of the symptoms detailed above, call our office right away and we will have you seen at the earliest opportunity for an examination, evaluation, and treatment.
